Antique 19th Century natural rose cut diamond brooch, with turquoises cabochon, Victorian era 18k and silver, 23 diamonds
What a beautiful piece of jewelry this is! Made in the Victorian era, circa 1870-1880. Knowing it was crafted completely by hand makes the fine quality of it’s fluid lines that curve and narrow that much more impressive. Each of the 23 rose cut diamonds were also set meticulously by hand. The warm patina is wonderful, serving nicely as a dark backdrop.
The dimensions are approximately 2,1/8” long by 1” at the widest point and the pin mechanism on the back measures 1,5” long from the hinge to the ornate to protective clasp. The pin is strait and it holds very securely in the catch, with no wiggling or worry whatsoever. It’s a remarkable piece of craftsmanship and an absolute treasure. An incredible addition to any Victorian-era collection but also quite wearable!
